Jewellery designer Qian Yang graduated from London College of Fashion (2014) with degree in BA (Hons) in Fashion Jewellery. "The concept of my Final collection was about 'Repair'. And I used second hand porcelains either already broken or I cut the figures, then repair them back into jewellery. This idea mainly inspirited from Japanese gold repair 'Kintsugi', for repair broken ceramics. For this jewellery collection, each chosen porcelain repaired with 24ct gold plated metal. It's a collection full of fun and I added a new meaning and extra preciousness to these ceramics pieces." - Final major project - The Mystery Dazzle AW14-15 collection is inspired by illuminati, which revolves around the concept of secret society – masonic lodge, occultist, symbolic, 70’s hippie culture. Jessica Tremaine Menswear and Print designer www.jegatremaine.co.uk @jegatremaine Experience: Design assistant at: Martine rose (London) 2012-2013 (A/W13 S/S14) BLESS (Paris) 2013 GRADUATE COLLECTION: SLACKER-HOOD “…Cling to the idealism of youth as to avoid the moral corruption that comes with aging…” Danesi,M (2003) Slacker-hood studies slacker culture derived from American stoner movies in which the characters live a life of little responsibility or progression from their teen years despite being adults. Inspiration comes from the combination of garments they wear out of necessity and items they wear out of sentimentality. This theme; combined with the current fine art sculpture trend for the assemblage of seemingly random objects, which tend to lack narrative, create a statement against the fetishisation of objects. Slacker-hood takes these themes and creates a collection that is both sentimental and pragmatic. Developed using a personal archive of garments collected from friends and generic pieces that have been mismatched together, the final Autumn/Winter 2014 look gives the impression of a seemingly carefree wardrobe selection, that aims to surpass the commonplace conformities of a fashion collection. THE GRADUATE COLLECTION The collection consists of contrasting textures such as Wool, Leather and hand-trimmed Lace creating undergarments as optional outer-garments. STATEMENT Whilst completing my degree in Fashion Contour I have been working part-time at the Luxury lingerie brand Myla within Harrods. I am honoured to have completed internships at Luxury Brands such as Myla and Pistol Panties. Whilst at Myla I worked alongside the PR and Wholesale Team which included assisting and styling their Autumn/Winter 13/14 online web shoot. Pistol Panties provided me with the invaluable knowledge of a small business within the fashion industry, gaining many aspects and challenges of a business. I look forward to progressing on to a variety of higher and more demanding career challenges within this industry. SS/13 - Combining Fashion Illustration with Fashion Design. Looking at Marching Cubes (a computer generated algorithm) and contrasting this with nature and old cartoon sketches formed my illustrations.
